The Red Tent

While I am not a feminist nor am I on the picket line fighting for women’s rights, I do like to read about women and their struggles over time, whether it be in the newspaper, magazine or a good book. It was suggested to me by a friend to try the book, “The Red Tent,” by Anita Diamant. It is a remarkable story about the struggle to survive as a woman in biblical times and follows the trials and tribulations of, Dinah, Jacob’s only female offspring. It is a heartfelt, moving and truly beautiful fictional story based on true biblical characters and accounts. Women will find the story empowering and men will find it engaging, but all the while both will be moved to great lengths by some intriguingly common themes; womanly strength, love, and wisdom.
