The Wonder Spot by Melissa Bank

By Hali Felice | May 22, 2008

Chick lit is great for some, but if you are anything like me, reading about shopping, manicures and boy bashing isn’t exactly on your list of things to do during your relaxation time. That is why Melissa Bank became an instant favorite with her book, “A Girl’s Guide to Hunting and Fishing,” the second I opened it up. After finishing that book, I desperately sought out for another by Bank, and luckily enough I found the book, “The Wonder Spot by Melissa Bank,” at the local library. After finishing it in less than 3 days, I found “The Wonder Spot”,” to be absolutely “wonderful.” Much like her first book, Bank offers the ever so cliche chick lit genre a new twist. A dry humored and more realistic approach to the world of the 20-30 something, “The Wonder Spot,” includes a number of short stories compiled together with the same main character during different monumental times in her life. Following along from her pre-teen years up until her mid 30’s, “The Wonder Spot,” hits the “spot” with many ages. If you are looking for a book to relate to, with the everyday struggles of finding yourself and your “calling,” this is a fantastic read for you! I found such a relation to the book, that I myself almost thought Bank used my own life as the basis for the stories. A page turner for sure.
