While many other teen series (i.e “The OC,” “One Tree Hill,” and “The Hills”) have come and gone over the decades, only one truly showed the perturbing and roller coaster ride that we all go through in our adolescent and pubescent years. And additionally, without all that soap opera drama that never truly happens to any of us. “My So-Called Life” has been re-released onto DVD in its complete series and this makes a great number of us ladies very pleased since the series said goodbye to cable television back in the mid 90s. While the series only ran for a mere 6 months, it is forever remembered as an educational and comforting journey, as we watched Angela’s life unfold into our very own teenage reality.

Becoming Jane

If you went to high school and no matter what high school, you remember reading at least one Jane Austen book. Whether or not you enjoyed the writing style and many novels of Austen, you will certainly enjoy the movie, “Becoming Jane“, which reveals the trials and tribulations that shaped the author’s life, and in result her books. Anne Hathaway (”The Princess Diaries” and “The Devil Wears Prada”) stars as the ever famous Austen and portrays a very realistic and moving ideal of the love life that reflected Austen’s novels. The story follows a 20 year old Austen on the search for her match. While her parents struggle to teach her to marry for money over love, Austen fights for the latter. Much like the ever popular “Pride and Prejudice,” “Becoming Jane” is a wildly enjoyable and worthy two hours of your time.

I love Chines food, and I especially look ordering take-out Chinese food and eating it on a TV table while watching some of my favorite shows. It wouldn’t be take-out Chinese food without Fortune Cookies for desert. And everyone gets a little bit of pleasure in opening up that cookie to reveal what your fortune says and reading it aloud with everyone you are eating with. Sometimes you get a fortune that actually means something for you and maybe is even inspiring. While I try to sometimes keep it, the paper is so small it usually always ends up missing.
