Carrie Bradshaw, style icon from Sex and the City, made the nameplate necklace a coveted style accessory. Now more than 10 years later from the Sex and the City fame, the nameplate necklace has gotten a social media makeover from BaubleBar. Now you can wear your online persona as a fashion statement with the Twitter-Plate Necklace. This customized nameplate necklace is handmade with your Twitter handle. It comes in either gold, rose gold or silver, this necklace will surely be a head turner and may even land you some new followers!
Blue denim is so last year. Perhaps one of the biggest trends for this spring and summer is colored denim. Whether you prefer boot cut or skinny or capri, colored denim is taking over all your favorite styles of jeans. And this season’s mantra is the brighter the better. So it’s time to add some color to your jean collection. Here are some of my favorite denim colors for the season.
If a longer full length skinny jean is more of your style, the Michael Kors Skinny Color Jean comes in a bright and vibrant blue. Pair these with just a simple white tank or tee and you are ready for a day in the sun.
Yellow is the color of the season so it’s not surprising that it is also popping up on denim as well. I like the lighter pastel yellow of Joe’s Jeans Chelsea Skinny Jeans. It gives you that pop of color without being blinding.
As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. So with April upon us, it’s the perfect time to invest in a trench coat for the rainy spring days. The ASOS Classic Trench is a double-breasted trench that comes in black, a neutral camel, or pink. It has a belted waist and buckle detail around the wrists. The trench is definitely a versatile wardrobe staple that’s perfect for the spring weather, rain or shine, when you need a light jacket to layer over your outfit.
I believe that jewelry should make a statement. Sometimes you need something muted that doesn’t take away from your outfit but just adds an extra sparkle while other times you need something bold that will make heads turn. This Frog-Clasp Bracelet is definitely a head turner. It’s a double resin chain link bracelet. And instead of just a standard clasp this bracelet has a bright, enameled crystal frog for the closure. Who would have thought a frog could be so fashionable?
Stripes are taking over this spring and they are also taking over my closet. I’m pretty sure the last five shirts I’ve purchased have been striped. I just can’t help it. I’m instantly drawn to a great stripe. And now stripes are popping up in more color combinations than ever giving solids and prints a run for their money.
Here are a few of my favorite striped pieces.
The Stripe Trench Coat from Ann Taylor Loft is a classic trench brightened up with the color of the season – yellow. It has great detailing like buckles around the cuffs. And who doesn’t love a trench coat? It is definitely a wardrobe staple.
You just can’t go wrong with a simple striped tee like the Striped V-neck Pocket Tee from Madwell. It’s the perfect compliment to your favorite pair of jeans and the ultimate in comfort. This is one of those tees you will want to live in.
Blazers aren’t just for the office anymore. The Bleecker Black and White Striped Blazer is far from boring and stiff. This fashionable blazer can be layered over a button-down or paired with a simple tee and necklace for a more casual look.
Navy blue and white is by far my most favorite stripe color combination. And I love it on these adorable Dollhouse Striped Ballet Flats. The blue and white stripes go across the side and back of the flats and then there’s a pop of color with peach leather over the toe and a peach ribbon.
Spring calls for brighter colors and Nautica has you covered with their Nautica Plaid Woven Shirt in Noon Blue. The Spring friendly blue tones and red and gold stripes make this casual shirt an easy all day shirt that fits in at the office or the after work happy hour. It’s perfect with jeans or khakis and we even like the paring with the red belt in the picture.
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So why not spruce up your morning routine with a mug that’s personalized just for you? The Monogram Mugs from Anthropologie come with unique painted designs from an Australian artist, Samantha Robinson. They are bright and whimsical with patterns of flowers, butterflies, and more. And of course, each mug comes with a hand drawn letter to match your name. These are sure to put even the worst morning person in a brighter mood!
Ballet flats are a must-have for any shoe collection. They are all about comfort and versatility. You can throw them on with a pair of jeans or wear them with a dress. And they are great for giving your feet a break from the heels and platforms. TOMS, best known for the slip-on canvas shoes with a mission, has introduced a new collection of ballet flats and they do not disappoint. They come in a variety of colors, patterns and textures like leather, canvas, burlap, and linen.
One of my favorites is the Eliana Blue Suede ballet flats. With soft suede fabric and detailed stitching around the shoe, this bright blue ballet flat will add a pop of color to your outfit.
Just like with every pair of TOMS shoes, they carry the ‘One for One’ mission. When you purchase a pair of shoes they will donate a pair to a child in need.
Last year, I told you about the Urban Decay Naked Palette, a great collection of neutral eyeshadows. I’ve used mine almost every day since I bought it! I’m not surprised that the original Naked Palette has been flying off the shelves so Urban Decay decided to bring us a sequel. And I am sure this one will be just as popular. The Naked Palette 2 is another great selection of neutral shades ranging from light and matte to dark and shimmery. With five new shades, this palette will quickly become part of your regular make-up routine. And as an added bonus, the palette also comes with a shadow crease brush and a travel sized lip gloss.
The spring and summer collections are upon us and one big trend for the upcoming season is the color yellow. Yellow is popping up everywhere. It will be the accent color of the season. So get your sunglasses ready and embrace the bright hue!
Here are some of my favorite yellow finds for the spring.
Zelda Jean Leggings from Express are bright and vibrant. You will definitely stand out in a crowd with these jeans. Pair with just a simple white tee or tank top and a pair of gladiator flats or nude pumps to make the jeans the star of the outfit.
The Three-Stripe Sweater from Gap is grey with neon yellow stripes. With three-quarter length sleeves and button details over the shoulder this is a great sweater to take you from winter in to spring. You can wear it under a blazer or on it’s own for a casual day look.
If you think the jump to yellow might be too much for you, take it slow and just add a pop of yellow color with accessories like the Color-Blocked Zippered Wallet from Old Navy. This neutral canvas wallet has yellow leather accents around the corners and zipper.
Or try a statement necklace that will brighten up your entire outfit like the Sunglow Collar necklace from BaubleBar. With geometric bright yellow pendants this necklace will lay perfectly over a tee or a dress to add the right amount of shine.
